60-Day Challenge Complete!!
To celebrate 60 days of literacy, we dressed up like our favorite book characters today! Learners who completed their paper bag book report received a special popcorn treat at recess! We have finished our small moment narrative writing pieces! Our 5th Grade Prayer Partners came to share this accomplishment with us and listen to our stories before adding them to our Published Authors Writing Wall.
Our Firsties had a visit from St. Nicholas today! We left our shoes in the hallway after lunch, and after learning about St. Nicholas and reading The Polar Express, St. Nick left us a special goody bag in our shoes! You should have heard his bells!
In STEM class this week, learners used their engineering, problem solving and counting skills to work collaboratively in building Thanksgiving cranberry structures.
Our firsties had so much fun on Native American Day! They had a scavenger hunt, made tasty turkeys, tribal headbands, and pine cone turkeys.
Thank you to all parent volunteers for making this first grade event such a success. Our learners love sharing these educational experiences with you. A big thank you from Miss Rafael's class to our Star of the Week, who brought each of us our very own Snoopy stuffed animal, and reminded us that we can be anything we want to be.
We had so much fun on our field trip to Centennial Farm! We became vegetable farmers, learning the things a plant needs to survive, and planting our very own radish to take home! We learned about the life cycle of a chick (did you know they hatch in only 21 days?!), and that cows can produce 10 gallons of milk per day. We saw geese, pigs, cows, goats, sheep, peacocks, roosters, hens, an ox, a llama, and many more farm animals. We learned why bees are important to farmers, and we saw many different vegetables and herbs. We learned so many interesting facts thanks to the farmers at Centennial Farm.
Thank you to all our chaperones who helped make this field trip a success! First Grade loved their Halloween Extravaganza. Many thanks to our room moms and volunteers who made this event such a success.
Both First Grade classes filled their marble jars for whole-class behavior this week! To celebrate, our firsties got to enjoy a little popcorn and movie treat today! Way to go, learners!
Miss Rafael's class had a witch as their Mystery Reader this week! She brought her goblet and her wand, and she read us some eerie Halloween stories. Thank you, Mrs. Pringle, for making reading fun and exciting. We loved reading along with you today!
